Network Outages

Network downtime, Internet outages, ISP brownouts, Cloud outages and debilitating latency or jitter cost businesses hundreds of thousands of dollars each year and are often to blame for damaged reputations and bad press. A few minutes of downtime halts employee productivity, delays customer activity and can rack up an expensive bill. It’s simply not worth the risk.

The secret to creating a never down® network

  • Add redundant connections: Be sure to have a second or third connection from an alternate provider. This can be any connectivity, from any provider; including DSL, Cable, Fiber, MPLS, Cellular (4G/5G), Satellite, Fixed Wireless or Microwave connections.
  • Install the Ecessa Solution: Ecessa products were purpose-built to integrate multiple connections from multiple providers, from 2-25 connections, and throughput options from 75Mbps – 20Gbps. Ecessa deploys at the edge of the network, integrating seamlessly behind the ISP connections; it simply takes the Ethernet or Fiber handoff from the ISP modem or router and takes over routing.
  • Fine-tune the network and grow: Once installed, running and tested, the Ecessa Technical Support team is available to assist with any fine-tuning, optimization or changes to any location. We take pride in achieving 100% customer satisfaction and we don’t stop until you’re happy. After you have confidence in Ecessa’s SD-WAN and can see the benefits to your business, we are here to help you deploy to the next location and beyond. Most of our customers are expanding or moving, so our team understands the importance of being flexible. Ecessa is there to help you 24x7x365.

Network Congestion

Bandwidth is often an unseen network trouble maker and learning how to increase it can be the secret to business success. When you have enough, you never give bandwidth a second thought. But the moment you start experiencing congestion, slow applications, sluggish connections, interrupted calls or remote desktop sessions, insufficient bandwidth is often the culprit. Seeing this issue, quantifying your true business needs and adding the correct bandwidth are all things Ecessa SD-WAN can solve. Many companies spend time and money attempting to optimize their limited bandwidth. Ecessa SD-WAN solutions allow for an easy, seamless way to add new bandwidth while making the most of all available bandwidth.

Session load balancing

  • Individual sessions are sent down different connections in real time, essentially spreading traffic out and using all available bandwidth. The downside to this approach is that if an outage occurs on connection 1, any sessions already on that link will be lost. To avoid this, packet-level duplication can be used.

Packet aggregation

  • This approach takes individual sessions, breaks them up and sends each packet down different connections in a round robin fashion. This has the potential to squeeze the most bandwidth out of all existing connections; typically advertised as doubling bandwidth or discussed as WAN optimization. The downside to this approach is that if the existing WAN connections are not identical in performance, that is packet loss, latency, re-ordering or jitter are not the same, packets may be delayed or out of order, resulting in a slower overall performance than expected.

Expensive MPLS

MPLS was once a wonderful solution for businesses that needed a private, reliable, low-latency WAN for connecting their remote offices and distributed infrastructure. Compared to modern alternatives, they are expensive and have limitations, including limited bandwidth and flexibility, complex setups and reliance on a single carrier or provider. What was once a singular solution to fixing connection issues is no longer the case – SD-WAN offers a much better alternative.

You don’t have to choose between MPLS or SD-WAN, you can use them both.

Many Ecessa customers keep their MPLS and enhance it with SD-WAN as an overlay. Businesses also replace their MPLS in exchange for lower-cost cable and fiber connections with SD-WAN providing encryption, control and performance improvement. In addition to saving money, they get more flexibility with routing and customization to make their network run faster.

Slow Applications

“The Internet is slow,” or “the Guest Wi-Fi is flaky,” are common indicators of larger network performance issues. When employees are seeing slow performing applications, dropped calls, remote desktop sessions ending abruptly, cloud-based programs performing badly or outright outages, SD-WAN can help. Regardless of who’s to blame (ISP outage, carrier brown-out, fiber cut, equipment failure or unexpected maintenance), these issues will not solve themselves, and can have serious impacts on business outputs, revenue recognition and employee productivity. Let’s solve this, now.

Quality of service (QOS)

  • Throttle non-critical applications so they don’t impact others – (think guest Wi-Fi not impacting voice calls or ERP sessions)
  • Guarantee that critical applications never go down
  • Guarantee bandwidth for latency-sensitive, real-time sessions
  • Customize how your network operates
  • Set failover and routing policy rules per application
  • Take control over your applications so they don’t control you. The Ecessa dynamic QoS engine allows you to:

Resiliency

  • Outages are going to happen. The questions is not if, but when? If your business is running on a single connection, downtime will happen. So, make sure you proactively invest in a second, third or fourth connection to build resiliency in your network. Adding additional circuits and bandwidth has many benefits; from active/active use of all bandwidth, to resiliency, and outages with failover and load balancing.

Performance visibility

  • Seeing where network issues are occurring, especially on the WAN side of things can be a challenge. Identifying why the Internet is slow is not an easy task. Ecessa SD-WAN solutions are purpose-built routers that sit at the edge of your network. This unique vantage point allows Ecessa to see performance issues inside, on the LAN, and outside, on the WAN. This 360-degree visibility is essential for troubleshooting issues and seeing what your true business needs are. Do you need to invest in that new 1Gbps WAN, or do you actually have enough bandwidth now that SD-WAN is showing you the data? Along with visibility comes hands-free performance reporting. The Ecessa solutions can all be set up to report on your network performance per location or globally via Ecessa Insight.

Security

Resiliency and security are the top concerns for every business, large and small. A day does not go by without reports of another ransomware attack. Companies must be proactive in upgrading, testing and reinforcing their security infrastructure and incidence avoidance and response activities. According to Small Business Trends, 43 percent of cyber-attacks target small business, and 60 percent of small companies go out of business within six months of being attacked. In addition, with millions of workers now accessing corporate networks remotely, hackers have even more opportunities to compromise systems, implant malware and disrupt not only individual businesses, but entire economic sectors. Enhanced cybersecurity is a must, and any network infrastructure changes you make must have security features, capabilities and a track record of success. Ecessa SD-WAN provides multiple layers of security to enhance and improve your existing security strategy.

Remote Workforce

These are strange times we live in – plain and simple. With brick and mortar businesses, schools, etc. seeing drastic functionality changes from the novel coronavirus, the world has seen an influx of employees and students opting for at-home workspaces as opposed to their customary office chair or classroom desk.

Shifting to a teleworking business model

  • Loss of productivity
  • Dropped remote desktop sessions
  • Glitchy calls and video meetings
  • Slow response times
  • Working from home is a great way to keep your workforce safe and connected during these times, however, if your organization’s network infrastructure can’t handle the increase in bandwidth demands, problems can arise such as:

Upgrade your network infrastructure

  • By implementing an Ecessa device into your remote workforce’s network, you’ll gain complete control over your DNS infrastructure. The result?
  • Reliable networks with little administrative effort
  • Increased productivity from less downtime and outages
  • Added layers of security to your existing network
  • High-speed connections and VPN load balancing
  • Automated recovery of VPN sessions for remote workers

Remote work without the headaches

  • Staying connected during these times is critical to the success and longevity of your business. By configuring your DNS in a way that best suits your team’s needs, Ecessa puts the control back in your hands, allowing you to rapidly launch your remote workforce in a matter of days.
